M. Scott Ott Biography
In 2002, after two decades of coaching and teaching, Scott Ott combined his love of teaching with his passion for travel to create U.S. Junior Tours Golf Experiences and USJT Golf Travel
Scott began his career by earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. After 10 years in the middle school classroom and coaching high school athletics, Scott branched into presenting national teaching and coaching seminars and into the sports travel industry where he personally led delegations of American athletes to Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Puerto Rico and Canada.
It was during that time, he came to appreciate Scotland and Ireland specifically for their beautiful landscapes, rich cultural opportunities, and some of the oldest and most hallowed golf courses in the world. He knew he had to share them with young golfers.
Drawing on his coaching and teaching experiences and his many travels, Scott established relationships with Scotland’s and Ireland’s premier golf courses and accommodations. In 2002 he created U.S. Junior Tours, a first-class educational and athletic travel program for golfers ages 10-18 and their families that combines professional instruction, competition, and cultural touring all in an atmosphere that fosters learning and character development.
With additional requests from golf groups, alumni groups, college and high school teams and individual golfers, Scott quickly realized the demand for additional tour programs and developed USJT Golf Travel.
Since that time, he has helped hundreds of junior and adult golfers from the United States and around the world experience the thrill of playing some of the most storied venues in Scotland and Ireland including the sport’s birthplace, The Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.
